Wash becomes instrumental in the 1970 establishment of the Philippine Business for Social Progress.

In 1970, The SGV Group further expanded its reach to include Singapore and Malaysia.

The SyCip family – Wash with brothers David and Alexander, and their father Albino – are featured in the March, 1971 issue of Fortune Magazine.

In 1972, Wash passed on his responsibilities as Managing Partner of the Philippine member firm to two other partners – Roberto V. Ongpin and Rodolfo B. Jacob – and focused on his task as Chairman of The SGV Group.

In 1973, Wash and SGV & Co. open a branch in Cagayan de Oro.

In 1975, Wash and SGV & Co. open a branch in Zamboanga.

In 1976, Wash and SGV & Co. open a branch in Bataan.

Wash receives the “Star of the Order of Merit” from the Republic of Austria in 1976.

In 1978, at the age of 91, Wash’s father fell ill with pneumonia and never recovered.
